Welcome to Nick's Language Cards support! Find answers to common questions and learn how to get the most out of your language learning experience.
Getting Started
How do I create my first language card?
- Tap the "+" button on the New Cards screen
- Enter a word or phrase in your target language
- Add the translation (or use automatic translation)
- Optionally add a context or note
- Tap "Save" and your card is ready for review!
What is spaced repetition and how does it work?
Spaced repetition is a scientifically-proven learning technique that shows you flashcards at increasing intervals. When you review a card:
- Stage 1: New cards reviewed immediately
- Stage 2: Next review in 1 day
- Stage 3: Next review in 3 days
- Stage 4: Next review in 7 days
- Stage 5: Next review in 14 days
- Stage 6: Next review in 30+ days (learned!)
If you mark a card as "Hard," it moves back a stage to reinforce learning.
How do I review my cards?
Go to the Review screen where cards due for review are displayed. Tap a card to flip it and see the translation, then mark it as "Easy" or "Hard" based on how well you remembered it. Focus on quality over speed - taking time to really recall the word strengthens your memory.

How do I enable study reminders?
- Go to your device's Settings > Notifications > Nick's Language Cards
- Enable "Allow Notifications"
- The app will send you reminders when you have cards due for review
Can I edit or delete cards after creating them?
Absolutely! Tap on any card to view details, then use the edit or delete options. You can update the word, translation, context, or notes at any time.
How does automatic translation work?
When creating a new card, you can use the automatic translation feature powered by Google Translate. Simply enter a word and tap the translate button to get suggestions. You can always edit the translation to match your preferred wording.
